Ravindra Jadeja A Victim of Harsh Criticism

Ravindra Jadeja has been the butt of a lot of jokes, a LOT. This balderdash continues in spite of his awesome performance at the recent matches for the Indian Cricket team. Following are a few examples (admittedly funny one) sourced from another website, pertaining to mockery of Jadeja.

“When Sir Ravindra Jadeja first travelled to Sri Lanka to play in yet another of those meaningless ODI series, Shahid Afridi was yet to come out of his 2nd retirement, Tiger Woods was yet to be accused of infidelity, Balotelli had never earned a red card & Kristen Stewart was still a virgin.

When Jadeja embarked on a glorious career taming Kulasekara & co., Poonam Pandey was a name unheard of; Suresh Raina’s nephew was in his nappies; baby Bachchan was still a stray sperm swimming in AB’s pelvic cavity & SRK was yet to promote Ra.One.

It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Jadeja. We’ve had champions, we’ve had legends, but we’ve never had a Jadeja & we never will.” – Time magazine.

I think the last one pretty much sums it up. Yes, the above is a fabricated bit to invoke a sense of comedy into harsh subtext of criticism thrown his way but nevertheless one has to wonder, “Is he truly that out of shape and devoid of good form?” Sure Ravindra Jadeja profile has ranked up some pretty bad statistics and at one painfully sad point his bowling has been termed the worst in history.

He has been maligned, made fun of and painted in a very unflattering light, all because of a few (though conspicuous) hits and misses. Who among us haven’t had a bad day? Which cricket player in history has had a successive run in every single match of his life? No one! Everyone is due their shortfalls and slip ups, sooner or later. Jadeja’s bad bowling attacks have often eclipsed his excellent batting prowess. Let us not forget that he managed an amazing feat of scoring his not first, but third triple century, when he was just twenty three. No other Indian has recorded such an astounding batsman ship and only seven other players in the cricket history are credited with three triple centuries. The constant pressure to live up to the legacy left by their erstwhile successful predecessors is too much of a burden on younger and contemporary players like Ravindra Jadeja. It will serve well if the Indian cricket fans are more accommodating and forgiving with respect to the players.

5 Myths About Lice-Busted

1. Lice are dangerous

Yes, lice are creepy critters and a pain to get rid of, but they are not dangerous. Even though lice have a reputation for carrying and spreading diseases, lice are not a major health risk to people who get them.

2. Pets can transmit lice

Certain types of insects like ticks can be passed on from pets to humans, but not lice. There is a certain type of lice that affects pets, but the species of lice that infest humans is not the same.

3. The length of your hair determines your chances for getting lice

When it comes to lice, they don’t discriminate based on the length of someone’s hair. Lice attach to the scalp, therefore anyone with any length of hair has the same chances of getting lice if they come into contact with someone who is already infested.

4. Lice are acquired by lack of cleanliness

While many people associate lice with poor hygiene, that is not the case. Anyone can get lice from contact with someone who already has it, and washing your hair will not get rid of lice. Lice can actually survive underwater for up to six hours! The only way to get rid of lice is by combatting it with treatments.

5. At-home treatments are safe and effective

While it may seem easier to use at-home remedies such as combing or natural oils to treat lice instead of seeing a professional, these types of treatments are not conclusively safe or effective, leaving a higher chance for lice to return. It’s best to seek professional treatment and sterilization of your home in order to get rid of lice for good.

Kumar Sangakkara Injured and Recuperating

‘Bitter-swee’t is the term that can be used to describe Kumar Sangakkara experience at the Australian Tour of 2012. The Sri Lankan captain joined the very exclusive 10,000 runs club, consisting of just Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis, just in the last week of December with his 58 runs in the first innings of the second Melbourne Test. Before he could celebrate in full form, he fractured his index finger on the left after being hit on his glove with a ball bowled by Mitchell Johnson. A surgery will be required to fix the broken finger; and a total of at least six to eight week will be required for the treatment and recuperation.

Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, not only will Kumar Sangakkara be unavailable to play for Sri Lanka’s final Test in Sydney, but also for the five One Day Internationals and two Twenty-twenty games slated to take place over the next one month.

Australians kick started the ODI series with a victory of 107 runs over the Sri Lankan cricket team. But it looks like their luck ran out with first match. The second ODI and third ODI were won by Sri Lanka, by eight and four wickets respectively. The fourth ODI match was called off due to rain, much to the chagrin of the Sri Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene, who knew that Sri Lanka had the upper hand and would have definitely won the match had they proceeded to complete the match.

Throughout the series both the batsmen and bowlers, especially the latter, have put up impressive performances. The series is also slated as Jayawardene’s last series as the captain of the Sri Lankan cricket squad. The fifth ODI was the most important as that would have decided the eventual winner, or so everyone thought. Even with Australia’s 32 run victory in the match, the series have ended in a tie between Sri Lanka and Australia with a score of 2-2. It appears as though Sangakkara was sorely missed during the match. His presence might have shifted the match in Sri Lanka’s favour.

The year 2012 was a positive highlight in Kumar Sangakkara profile. He had reaped plaudits by the dozen; some of which included the prestigious Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and the People’s Choice award. Add to that his inclusion in to the 10,000 runs club and he would have had a perfect year, had he not been injured.
